Gone Country…Texas Style

The OpenLink Bulletin – March 2016

If you’re from Texas, you’re familiar with the phrase “a country mile.” That’s approximately how far we had to walk to get to any tent at the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que cook-off at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, but it was worth every step. This competition kicked off Houston’s annual rodeo season, a month long event featuring rodeo and livestock activities, food and beverage competitions, nightly concerts, carnival games, shopping, and much more. With more than 250 cook teams this year facing off in traditional Texas style barbeque categories, the competition was steep. The sights and sounds of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo were in full effect, and visitors and guests enjoyed three days of live music, eating, and dancing…Texas style.

Over 250,000 people attended the cook-off this year. OpenLink was an official sponsor of the Planet Texas Tent and Cook-Off Team, where clients and employees alike enjoyed mouth-watering barbeque, fixin’s, and refreshments for three nights straight. Once we had our fill of food, we danced the night away to acts including country music stars Tracy Byrd, Johnny Rodriguez, and Jamie Richards. It was a fantastic event and a great time to catch up with our clients.

Most of the tents at this event were by invitation only, as was ours. If you missed this year’s event, be sure to reach out to your account manager in January next year to secure your tickets. This is an annual event you don’t want to miss!
